SALTI was built out of frustration and pain

Meghan Markowski is a physician assistant who has been working in the male dominant field of Orthopedics for almost ten years. Her long hours on her feet in clinic, rounding on the floor, and standing in the operating room has led to constant aching feet. She realized that her male colleagues didn’t seem to have as severe of an issue. While sneakers can be worn with scrubs, there are very few comfortable footwear options for the professional attire in the office, especially for women.

Throughout the years, she has continued to have high hopes that her favorite brands would come out with a more comfortable shoe that she could wear with a dress and withstand her long walking and standing hours, but she has continued to be disappointed. She has decided to take it into her own hands to use her orthopedic expertise and experience of aching feet to design a fashion forward shoe.
